At the place where I heard the sound of blue waves
I seem to have lost Something unexpected
At the transparent station of the former days
In front of the lost and found claiming office
I feel extremely sad
-Shuntaro Tanikawa
Like Shuntaro Tanikawa’s poem, it feels strange when I look at the mirror where there used to be a smile, but now I see a stranger. This piece illustrates how the viewer may participate in the art-making process: By looking into the mirror, the viewer becomes the artist, and simultaneously, his or her reflection becomes the subject.
